Being in the competition fields for the first time, KN2C robotics team successfully got through the qualification process of the international robotic competition of Robocup 2017 with their latest UGV XerXes by achieving the 3rd place at IranOpen in the same year with BETA Sana’t Illia as their sponsor.
The Competition was held in Japan and about 19 rescue UGV teams from across the globe (like Italy, Germany, Thailand, America and Japan which was the host this year) participated in the competition; 4 teams of MRL, YRA, KN2C and DML were the Iranian competitors of the competition and they also were the first to fourth places of the international robotic competition of IranOpen 2017 respectively.
During the preliminary, good performance along with stability amazed the other participants and judges. And finally with being ahead of some great teams from USA, Germany and Mexico, KN2C proudly achieved the 5th rank of the competition.
The other 4 teams which achieved the first to fourth ranks during preliminary and proceeded to the finals were in the following order:
IRAP from Thailand which their high speed awarded them the first place in Robocup 2016.
Shinobi from Japan performed great in dexterity tasks which focused mainly on the performance with UGV’s arm and gripper and also had semi-auto ability.
MRL from the Islamic Azad University of Ghazvin (Iran) was the champion of the IranOpen 2017 and has several other prizes and international rankings.
YRA from the Islamic Azad University of Yazd (Iran) which achieved the 2nd place in the IranOpen 2017 and has several other prizes and international rankings.
With IRAP’s UGV failure resulting in a fire accident and MRL facing issues which prevented them from shining in their strengths, at the end YRA became the champion with IRAP as the 2nd, MRL as the 3rd and Shinobi as the 4th place of Robocup 2017 competition.
