Iran Open 2017

Each year, the international robotic competition of IranOpen is held with the participation of robotic teams from different universities around the world. Robotic team of Khaje Nasir Toosi University of Technology (KN2C) achieved the 3rd rank at IranOpen 2017.

With collaboration of Qazvin Islamic Azad University (QIAU) and Iranian RoboCup National Committee, IranOpen is held every year; from April 5th to 7th, This year's competition was held with the participation of different robotic teams from 14 countries over the world; Robotic team of Khaje Nasir Toosi University of Technology (KN2C) too, competed in the real rescue robots league. Other competitors were Qazvin Azad Isalmic University (World's champion in real rescue robots league), Islamic Azad University of Yazd (World's 3rd rank in real rescue robots league) a real rescue team from South Korea and some other student robotic teams from other universities such as Amirkabir University of Technology. This league's competition consists of 2 parts: preliminary and final

Preliminary part has different sections, with each part simulating various harsh terrains and difficult to pass areas and each time a team successes in traversing the area of the specified trial, they will gain one point; competitors must choose from these 20 items and operate in each for 15 minutes. Ability of image and video processing, capabilities of robot's arm and the speed and precision of operator's reflexes are all necessary to achieve the best score as well as completing a set of multipliers which will multiply the achieved score at the end of the round for the team. At the end of preliminary, KN2C managed to reach the finales along with two other robotic teams from Qazvin Islamic Azad University (named MRL) and Islamic Azad University of Yazd (named YRA). The final consists of all the preliminary areas with a victim (which consists of all the multipliers tasks with each task counted as one score when done) at the end of each trial; each team must try to get as many points possible while mapping the surrounding area and marking the victims on it. MRL got the 1st prize, YRA the 2nd and, with few points behind, KN2C got the 3rd.
